Believe it or not, CD Projekt Red has an official graph that charts Cyberpunk 2077 crashes. The graph is taken from the company's most recent financial results, where CEO Adam Kiciński reiterated that the developer is still committed to improving the experience.
Kiciński said: "We intend to live up to what we promised our gamers in January," referring to the update roadmap that CD Projekt Red published. "While we already see major improvements, a large part of the team continues to work on making sure that Cyberpunk provides even better entertainment to gamers," he continued.
Kiciński also stated that "nearly half" of the original Cyberpunk 2077 development team is still working on the game. That total includes those currently working on the PlayStation 5 version, which is still set to release later this year.
Anyway, back to the crash graph:
According to CD Projekt Red's data, subsequent patches have improved the crash rate since launch — and based on our own personal experience, that seems to be the case. But it's still crazy that such a graph exists, isn't it? Unfortunately, the graph doesn't indicate the actual amount of crashes, as there's no dedicated y-axis. A bit of a shame for us, but understandable from a business point of view!
Do you still have hope for the future of Cyberpunk 2077? Pray for Night City in the comments section below.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones as crashing really hasn’t been an issue during my play through. Glad to see CDPR hard at work on improving the experience. The eventual complete edition of this game will be excellent.
I was just asking a friend about this the other day - Take all of the crashes and visual issues out of the equation, and what score would you have given Cyberpunk?
For me it's a 7 or 8 out of 10 at best.
The scale of the city is amazing, the upgrades are very cool, and while I was playing it I really did enjoy it.
But after I finished... I dunno. There are better games.
Maybe my outlook is being impacted by how the game was delivered at launch, but I have no real desire to continue following this title, bugs or no bugs.
That bleak vision of a hopeless future also kind of ran it's course with me in Fallout 4. So I'm sure that plays a part too.
Witcher 3 next gen, however, is a different story.
Gizdat now.
Nope, it's still an undercooked t*rd. I just feel sorry for people who were duped and manipulated by this scummy company.
Biggest scam of the decade.
Glad they're improving it, though I don't trust graphs that are missing the numbers.
This isn’t a graph.. it’s a line. Am I looking at the wrong thing?
How are we supposed to notice any improvement without any data points to compare? They could literally start the top and bottom off the graph and zoom in/out to make it look how they want
Not holding my breath but I will wait for the Native PS5 version and see how that goes. Off topic.....sort of but I was listening to the Cyberpunk 2077 OST recently and while I don't like the game atm due to the state it's in there's no doubt about it the music for the game sounds incredible. Outsider No More I particularly like.
The chart is missing valuable data. Like 6-digit numbers down the left hand side.
"Unfortunately, the graph doesn't indicate the actual amount of crashes." Yeah I've noticed that with a lot of the graphs CDPR puts out. I remember the good old road map for Cyberpunk they put out was super vague as well. It's a little annoying for sure if your going to do a graph, do a graph! All I see here is a squiggly line going down.
@Errr I agree the ‘graph’ is pretty funny but all of CDPR’s graphs and roadmaps have been equally as vague so...consistency, right? 😜
Ha, no actual numbers, how embarrassing. Still trying to hide what's going on, not a good look.
@Jecht_Ultima
They couldn't unfortunately they were deep in the ps4 progress and it was promised for ps4, but somewhere along the line looks like they just altogether dropped ps4 version and probably prayed it would just be fine on ps4...and well we know how that went 🤭
With no Y axis, it's close to useless.
We see it's improving. From "really bad" to "possibly still pretty bad"? We don't know.
Looking forward to playing it. One day...
I am very curious about in what state the game will be when it returns to Play Store. Assuming it will return, as CDPR keeps reiterating.
Can't believe I thought I was going to play this at launch. At this rate, it'll be years before the game is in a state where I feel like it's worth spending money on.
I'm enjoying it..no crashes and its nice looking and smooth..load times are a bit long and there are a few laugh out loud moments when the npcs in the background get stuck on something and ***** out but all in all it aint ad bad as i was led to believe..the people that still knock it probably enjoy it more than they say and just dont want to be that guy that says "hey i was wrong"..the cool kids eh?
Just recently finished the story and almost got the platinum, an while I'm sure I've had a much better experience than early adopters by playing post patches (only one crash, the odd weird glitch with ncps) it's been fine. The city itself is amazing but as others have said, it's all style no substance. It's definitely the most impressive example of a city in a video game I've ever played, visually, but when every door is locked, every shop facade is closed (besides specific vendors) it just feels hollow. Makes me appreciate the comparatively tiny world of shenmue one, where every home felt lived in, every street seemed like it had a purpose. Obviously that kind of detail couldn't be done on cyberpunks scale, but I gotta say I prefer the tiny detailed world over the huge plastic one. Ok game though!
I played it a bit at hotfix 1.22 and it does look fun so I'm still looking forward to playing it. But knowing that CDPR is still working on it I'm holding off a little longer, the title can only get better. Meanwhile I have a massive backlog of games plus other new titles to keep me busy. I'll probably get back to it when the ps5 update comes
Hope this is really crash RATE (crashes per minutes played), because if it shows TOTAL number of crashes then it drops because people are obviously stopping playing the game... unfortunately the spikes after update releases makes me think its actually totals, when people log in to check performance improvements.
It's genuinely hard to believe this is real.
I had dozens upon dozens of crashes during my 3 playthroughs. It never deterred me from loving the game.
Played it twice on PS4 now on a 3rd run through on PS5, which is a huge leap in quality. Not had one crash at all although admittedly a fair few bugs on release. Still love the game
@Northern_munkey you're right. I'm betting the people who shout "screw this pile of trash" haven't even tried the game at all
Loved this Game on my PS5. I ran into very few issues. Glad they're dedicating their efforts to improving it for the 8 year old consoles
Even the latest stat feels far too many crashes than is acceptable. On the basis that the start was shockingly bad, to be at around a third of it this far on feels really bad and not something to be happy about. I really do wonder if I'll ever get round to playing this game. Maybe in a few more years...
So many stories on how cdpr messed up. Sometimes it feels like it's the happening of the decade. We will remember the twenties for two things: a deathly pandemic and cdpr made a crappy game. I mean, get on with it. It's just a game.
@Mittsu I thought the same thing. Good point about the spikes after each update — does suggest this is based on total reported crashes.
@KingPev not quite what i was saying really..
CP77 crashed more often on my PS4 than all my other games (150+) combined. It was just ridiculous.
And the Y axis isn't given as you mentioned. I don't trust this graph. It could be manipulated in so many ways. Not giving it means there's something to hide. This is bad and dangerous statistics presentations as a textbook example with the info not given.
Also, does less people playing the game have anything to do with the "crash rate" whatever that means) going down?
I hope the next CDPRD game suffers hard at launch and they face consequences for this launch. They might have gotten away with it this time, but I highly doubt their next game will sell as well or have as much hype.
Nothing can save this game on past gen.
That’s the very definition of a misleading graph. Yes the rate has dropped. But how high was it and what percentage has it dropped to now? As an example, you see graphs that look just like that in the stock market with even sharper decreases and it’s not even a 1% drop. Not to mention the obvious glarin fact that of course the crash rates have dropped, way less people are playing it than at or around launch and the surrounding few months
I know many said it misses the y-axis, but it should also be divided by the amount of playing hours. If the amount of playing hours drops, the crashes will also drop.
@Mysterio another example of how this is the very definition of what’s termed a misleading graph
@Divergent95 the last ***** up of a similar magnitude I remember was the red rings of death on the first gen of Xbox 360 consoles
I love that the graph only measures months, so we don't have any metrics to compare the progress against. With that being said, I mostly enjoyed my time with CP2077, but knowing that the PS5 is incoming at some point, I just kinda stopped playing and really don't have any desire to go back until I can get my free upgrade.
@ElMarko Typically I'd think this is hyperbole, but you're right, the amount of consumer's money and time that has been impacted by CDPR because of the game's launch status actually does have the game up there with the red ring of death situation.
@Shepherd_Tallon I agree with this completely. Under all the bugs and stuff, the issue is that Cyberpunk is a pretty average game. No patch can fix that.
I put 100 hours into it and saw the end credits roll. It is a solid game worth playing. But it is not near to the level of something like Witcher 3 no matter how much they patch it.
If you look at those peaks after P1.2 and HF1.2 it clearly shows how people tried it, and left it.
Surely the number of crashes are falling as fewer people play the game over time. Is this a playstation only graph? Pretty useless graph really.
That said, on ps5 I really enjoyed it despite its shortcomings. If you trash the game without having played it then your opinion holds no weight.
How about living up to what you promised at release? Just stop talking and actually do something.
Crashing wasn't an issue for me. It was the lackluster and half-baked story, the saturation of Johnny Silverhand throughout it all and the unfinished overall quality of the game that bothered me most. Not to mention the mountain of lies spewed forth by CDPR.
STOP WRITING ARTICLES ABOUT THIS P.O.S. GAME.
Without a numerical value on the Y-Axis this info graph is bogus. Laughable really how this got OK’d
I suspect the Y-axis , from top to bottom, reads something like...
Far too many
Definitely too many for Sony
Can we talk people out of refunds?
Oh sh*t how did we f*ck up this badly
Still far too many
Better, but still too many
C'mon guys, do better!
Sony still not happy
Does anyone here know what they're doing?
Why is this thing still crashing?
Will Sony put it back on the store yet?
Goddamit, I wish we'd never made this game
Can't give up now
Without the right axis the graph isn't useful except in stating crashes have decreased somewhat.
Ill get it eventually but it’s probably gonna be 3-4 years from now when it has a native PS5 complete edition on sale for $15-$20.
@Errr i think it is a mountain range where they hid all the versions that worked at each patch point on the graph. Now to find that mountainside that matches the image.
Too many great quality games to play. I'll skip this one. Maybe I'll play in 3 years from now, if it's fixed.
@Shepherd_Tallon All problems aside the game is just not finished and poorly implemented. Almost all of its open world elements, loot system, and side activities are just terrible.
I would give it a 6 max if it actually worked right.
Without the Y axis metric of this graph its useless. Just visual propaganda for those attending that meeting. It would be more interesting to get everyone to start being straight with themselves and check the crash log for this game. I can tell you for me, before putting it aside as it was just mediocre when it did run (on a ps5), I had over 40 crashes only progressing a little over halfway through the scripted sequence laden story, doing a considerable amount of exploration and side content mind you.
I believe I was one the lucky ones…
PS4 version, zero crashes!
Justa a few graphical glitches, but again, in a huge game this is common.
I plat’ed the game weeks ago and I’m eagerly waiting for new content!
I played it on a high end pc and even with no visual issues and good frame rate, the game is just too shallow and I didn't even get 20 hours in before abandoning it. There is really no sense of exploration you just go from one story mission to the next and everything is the same in between. Thats the real crime with this game, it should have been such an easy setting for them to smash this out the park with interesting weapons, skills, gameplay loops and mini games. But instead it's all just very meh... 7/10 game even when working fine.
I watched the god of war documentary recently, they had 3048 bugs ,including floating trees ,morphing faces and dragons disappearing into the ground and didn't stop until all where gone, shameful that cdpr released a game with about 60k bugs, not suprised Sony pulled it from the store ,they probably felt insulted.
Received my PS5 2 days ago. Planning to buy o hard copy today of cyberpunk to say what is all the fuss with this game. Luckily the game's price also tanked. It's less than 25$ in store.
They may as well have just said there are less reported crashes. People are clearly clocking that it isn't based on accumulative hours, but simply reported crashes.
I was super excited for this game leading up to release. Then I began to get a bad vibe from watching the previews. Told myself to wait incase it was subpar. However I never dreamed they'd release it in the form the last gen consoles got. Then they got shady only allowing the PC reviews to be seen.
Sadly any hope of this game being beloved has sailed into the sunset over the past 6 months. We are getting to a point where every next gen release will overshadow any improvements they make. I cannot wait until the Witcher PS5 version releases, but I think Cyberpunk is better off forgotten.
Basically they are using the good PC version profits to fix a PS4 version they should have canceled
And CyberPunk is like Control - It should be played with RayTracing. Even if fixed, you are not getting the full experience on PS4.
@Westernwolf4 I was the same, I played 120+ hours before putting the controller down.
There's just not much there for me.
love it or hate it , cyberpunk made its mark in history
It sucks that Cyberpunk had some great storyline but the gameplay is just mediocre. I honestly feel like the cutscenes and dialogue interaction are longer than the time I spent playing it. Night City is gorgeous minus the NPC. It looks great on PC with rtx on.
Very sketchy that they don't show more data. I'm still passing on this until it's fully patched and all of the DLC is out.
